Volunteering is a demonstration of caring for others. You’ll find it at the heart of the YMCA. No matter what your special talents, interest and schedule are, you can help change someone’s life at the YMCA. The Y offers people a chance to get involved in community life by running programs, making policies, raising money and solving neighborhood problems. By giving time to others volunteers also give themselves a chance to learn, grow and have fun.

Solid reasons to support the YMCA:

  • Long established history
The YMCA has "stood the test of time." It’s one of the oldest institutions in the United States. It is a proven product. Part of a national system, it has the structure in place to program.
  • Locally managed
Top-level locally based volunteers assure that Y finances are well managed. Our Y responds to local needs! The Y board members are hometown community leaders.
  • Motivated Professional Staff
Each professional is a carefully selected individual who is passionate about the YMCA mission. Regular training and certification take place.

The Harrison County YMCA has always been committed to providing services to children and families regardless of their ability to pay. In fact, our financial assistance program for membership and special programs is partially underwritten by your gifts.

When you make a gift to our annual Invest-In-Youth Campaign you will allow a child to experience the joys of a youth sports league, swimming lessons or to rediscover a sense of accomplishment.

Every dollar raised in this Invest-In-Youth Campaign will help make a dream come true and provide lasting benefits to the entire community. We hope that you will join us in our efforts!

A hundred years from now it will not matter
what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove,
but the world may be different because I was important
in the life of a child.

The mission of the Harrison County YMCA is to promote Christian principles among its members, constituents, and the community through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

The YMCA is a membership organization with a charitable purpose. Our Financial Assistance Policy enables the YMCA to assist families and individuals who want to participate but cannot afford the entire fee. Applications are available at the front desk.

Each YMCA is an independent organization, autonomous and separate from the YMCA of the USA.
